About
Vanguard Structural Solutions, LLC was founded in 2025 by Dr. Mason Azad, P.E. with the mission of delivering premium structural engineering services. With over 15 years of experience in the nuclear and oil & gas industries, Dr. Azad specializes in the structural analysis and design of structures, systems, and components (SSCs) for commercial nuclear power plants (NPPs) and small modular reactors (SMRs), with projects spanning the United States, Canada, and Japan.

Dr. Azad holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and Texas. He has authored over 30 journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports. Additionally, Dr. Azad has contributed as a peer reviewer for American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) journals and has received awards and recognition from ASCE for his contributions.

Vanguard Structural Solutions, LLC provides a comprehensive range of technical and engineering services focused on the analysis and design of nuclear power plant (NPP) structures. Services encompass conceptual design of structural systems and building layouts, detailed analysis and design, including seismic analysis, soil-structure interaction (SSI), fluid-structure interaction (FSI), and thermal analysis. The firm specializes in linear and nonlinear static and dynamic analyses of steel, reinforced concrete (RC), and steel-plate composite (SC) structures, as well as the analysis of containment structures, reactor pressure vessels, and other structures and components under various loading conditions.
